My father passed away nearly a month ago. I mention it, in part, because he was the inspiration for my working on the Burdine family tree. His middle name was Burdine. I never talked with him about my Burdine work. I though I'd have time to create a more substantial work-in-progress to share with him. Time ran out, which is too bad. It reminds me not to put stuff off.
Meanwhile, I've enjoyed working on the Burdines and extended families, both on Ancestry.com and in real life. I've been working on a family directory of living relatives of Joseph Burdine Looper and Nancy Jane Burdine, as a way to help keep that side of the family connected going forward. It's been great to reach out to relatives, some of whom I haven't talked to in a while.
Dad's the first in my immediate family to pass away. I've really appreciated people reaching out in different ways. The handwritten notes have been especially nice.
